  American Fries   (Barbeque version)

10 - 12  Brown potatoes, peeled
      or
12 - 14  Red potatoes, peeled.  These are generally smaller
1 stick  Land o' Lakes butter (or equivalent)
1  Large onion, cleaned and chopped
1/4 cup  Water
   Aluminum foil
   Pam spray (or equivalent)
   Salt and pepper to taste.
   Garlic powder to taste

Pam spray a large pan or cooking container that will fit in your Barbeque grill.

Slice potatoes into 1/8" to 1/4" thick slices.  You may want to half or quarter slice larger potatoes first.

Layer potato slices into pan and add a thin layer of chopped onion.  Cut butter stick into pats and dot layer with butter pats.

Add salt, pepper and garlic and proceed with making another layer until pan is nearly to the top.

Add water to pan to create steam.

Cover pan opening completely with aluminum foil and place in Barbeque for approx 1 1/2 hours at medium heat.  You can also use the oven.  Check for doneness after about an hour.

You may want to use a spatula to turn potatoes if they get crispy in the pan.
